According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, August 22nd, at approximately 1:00pm, Humboldt County Sheriff’s’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team responded to an address in McKinleyville for a report of a suspected explosive device that had been found in a storage unit.

The device was determined to be a World War II-era stick grenade. Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians safely transported the grenade to a safe location and disabled it.
