A woman was taken to the hospital this afternoon after crashing her car into the Gold Hill Figaro’s Pizza store. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident, which happened just after noon.
The driver, a 68-year-old woman, was initially trapped inside the vehicle, which came to rest almost entirely inside the restaurant. Personnel from Fire District 3 responded to the scene and helped the driver from the vehicle.
Deputies say the vehicle left the roadway and continued through the parking lot and into the restaurant. The driver was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center by Mercy Flights ambulance with unknown injuries. Two dogs in the vehicle were not injured.
Employees and patrons were inside the restaurant when the crash occurred. Two people received abrasions after being struck by debris but did not require medical transport. Vehicles in the parking lot received minor damage from debris.
The crash remains under investigation. No further information is available for release at this time.
