Just before 1:00am Friday. December 27th, an officer from the Medford Police department attempted to stop a white 2004 Mercedes for driving without headlights. The vehicle proceeded to try to elude officers throughout the city of Medford.
Over the course of the chase, officers deployed spike strips twice, which flattened all the tires. The driver, however, continued to elude at very slow speeds.
The chase went on for about 20 minutes before Officers used the PIT maneuver to finally get the vehicle to stop, on Brookdale Avenue.
The driver, Amanda Hawkins, was believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She has been lodged in jail on DUII, Eluding, and other charges, to include Probation Violation for possession of meth.
