The US Weather Service is reminding people that warmer weather this weekend may make it tempting to get outside and visit many of the areas beautiful rivers, lakes, and beaches!
Please keep in mind that the river and lake waters are very cold this early spring from upstream snow melt and the rivers will be running high and swift. Always keep your eye on the sea and never turn your back to the ocean when visiting beaches.
Calm waters on the surface could be hiding stronger currents below. People visiting water recreation areas this first weekend of spring holiday weekend.
Remember you and children should wear a life vest while taking part in water activities and keep a close eye on children.
Cold water paralysis can develop quickly and result in drowning if you are pulled into the faster-flowing waters. Have fun, but be safe!
