Warm, Dry Weather and Smokey Skies Forecast

As we reach the halfway point through the meteorological summer records show that the inland areas have seen above normal temperatures again this year, however it has not been as warm as last year. However the coast has proven to be slightly warmer than last year in most locations.

The hot, dry summer pattern is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Numerous wildfires are burning across the area from the lightning that moved through on Sunday. These fires literally surround the Rogue Valley. So, prepare for smoky conditions and poor air quality pretty much until further notice.

Below is a model visualization of the expected smoke concentration levels expected from the fires burning across southwest Oregon and Northern California. It is based on modeled winds at and above the fires.

Smoke will likely continue to spread out across the area, with some settling back into the valleys at night.
