A fugitive is in jail after leading law enforcement officers on a four-mile chase Wednesday morning. Tyler Anthony Boyd, 40, was arrested on a no-bail warrant for parole violation, as well as a new charge of attempting to elude police.
On the morning of October 31, 2018, regional members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, a multi-agency team funded by the U.S. Marshal’s Service, received information that Boyd was living in a camp near the 25-mile marker of Highway 140. At 7:00 a.m., while task force members were in the area looking for Boyd, he drove by in a Jeep Wrangler.
A traffic stop was attempted, but Boyd fled west on Highway 140. Near the 21-mile marker, Boyd attempted to turn onto a logging road. He lost control and drove onto an embankment, where his vehicle became disabled. Task force personnel took Boyd into custody without further incident. Nobody was injured.
In addition to task force members, the Oregon State Police assisted in the Wednesday incident. Troopers are investigating a separate case involving Boyd.
