Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Fatality

According to a press release by the Oregon State Police, on Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2017 at about 3:10 PM, Troopers from the Roseburg Area Command responded to Highway 42 just west of Camas Valley near milepost 51 for a report of a single vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2008 Ford Edge SUV, operated by Langlois Oregon resident Paul Arnoldi was traveling westbound at this location and for unknown reasons, left the roadway, striking a male pedestrian who was standing off the roadway taking photos.

The pedestrian was identified as 61-year-old North Bend resident Donald Dickinson. Dickinson was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg where he was later pronounced deceased. Arnoldi was transported to Mercy Medical for serious injuries and later transported by air to Sacred Heart of Springfield.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Camas Valley Fire, Tenmile Fire, Douglas Fire District 2 and ODOT.
