On Tuesday evening, December 31, just after 9:30pm, the Illinois Valley Fire District responded to a car fire on Hwy. 199 south of O’Brien.
The car appeared to have been “abandoned” as there was no one there, there was no engine in the car and there was a tow strap still attached to the car.
Hwy. 199 was closed for approximately 20 minutes for the safety of the firefighters and for the safety of the drivers.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Illinois Valley Fire District Fire Marshal.
