Just after 3:40pm Wednesday afternoon, February 2nd, units from the Illinois Valley Fire District, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response were dispatched to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

First responding units to arrive on scene discovered a vehicle had left the roadway, rolled onto it’s passenger side, before striking and penetrating the wall into the building near the intersection of Hwy. 199 and 6th street, in Kerby.

Rescue personnel located one person trapped inside the vehicle, assessed the situation and a lengthy and difficult extraction took place before the patient was transferred to American Medical Response with injuries and transported to a local hospital.

Due to the uncertainty of the patients injuries ant the lengthy situation regarding extrication, Mercy Flights was placed on stand-by, but not used, and traffic was controlled to one lane while the crash scene was active.
