On Friday afternoon, February 1st, the U.S. Forest Service warned of a significant hazard developing just downstream from Redwood Bar River Access on the Chetco River. The situation has been very active the last few days, and with the incoming storm, the problem could become worse with an undetermined surge in the river’s level.
The U.S. Forest Service-Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest stated they are working very close with the State Marine Deputies to try and mitigate this before it becomes a serious hazard to boaters. Note: in one photo, you can see a 30″+ Doug Fir that could end up across the river creating a real mess.
With the river projected to rise considerably this weekend, the U.S. Forest Service-Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will be posting warning notices at the boater registration station, as well as the river access sites upstream and is warning boaters to please use extra caution when boating through this section of the river.
