Plans changed abruptly during a routine training flight for an air crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station North Bend, when a call was received regarding a dog that had become stranded off shore early last week.

Upon arrival to the scene, the Air Station North Bend crew located the canine stranded on a rock a few hundred yards offshore.

A rescue swimmer made their way to the rock and coaxed the canine into the basket and transported the dog back to the shore to reunite with her owner.
