U.S. Coast Guard Helps Locate Two Missing Women

The Coast Guard located two lost female hikers, Tuesday morning, who were missing overnight near the Baker Beach Trail near Florence.

A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin aircrew, from Sector North Bend, located the two hikers and an aviation survival technician was lowered down to them to evaluate the hiker’s conditions and lead them to a nearby search and rescue ground party.

Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector North Bend received an agency assist from Oregon Emergency Management personnel for an ongoing missing hiker case at 6:55 am. A Dolphin aircrew was launched at 8:12 am. and the hikers were located at 8:55 am.

Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Siuslaw River assisted in search efforts as part of the ground party.

There were no reported injuries but the hikers were reported to be cold.
