The crew of a U.S. Coast Guard boat rescued an injured man Monday morning from a commercial fishing vessel 25 miles off the coast of Brookings.
Just before 10:00 am, Coast Guard Sector North Bend was contacted by the commercial fishing vessel Arctic Storm regarding a crew member that had sustained a blunt force trauma head injury after an unsecured crane hook struck him in the face.
A 47-ft. Motor Life Boat from Station Chetco River launched and met with the Arctic Storm, taking aboard the injured 64-year-old man. The crew was able to stabilize the injured man before bringing him ashore for emergency medical services.
USCG reports that the man’s current condition is unknown.
