On Monday, January 27th, at approximately 1:30 am Southern Oregon Emergency Communications received a 911 call reporting a stabbing at an apartment on Western Avenue, in Medford.
The Medford Police Department responded to the apartment and encountered one youth outside of the apartment. The youth was taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement officers then entered the apartment and found an adult female laying on the floor with multiple stab wounds.
Law enforcement officers rendered lifesaving aid to the victim who was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Inside the apartment were two other juveniles. Subsequent investigation revealed one of the youths stabbed a family member and one of the other juveniles inside the apartment was involved in the planning and commission of the stabbing of the family member.
The second youth was also taken into custody. It was determined the third juvenile in the residence was not involved.
The two youths, ages 13 and 14, have been charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and two counts of Criminal Conspiracy to commit Murder in the Second Degree. The 13-year-old youth has been additionally charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Both entered denials to the charges upon being arraigned in the Jackson County Juvenile Court.
