On Wednesday morning February 7, at approximately 7:46 A.M., Firefighters from Brookings Fire & Rescue, Harbor Fire Dept., Smith River Fire Dept. and Gold Beach Fire Dept. responded to a reported structure fire at 516 Redwood Ave.
The first arriving units found a two-story apartment building with smoke and fire showing out of the front windows. The fire was threatening two other structures that were close to the involved building.
The fire was quickly knocked down by the first arriving fire engines to arrive on the scene. The fire was contained to the original building. The fire was declared controlled at 8:17 a.m.
The only occupant that was in the residence who was the resident of the upstairs apartment escaped the fire without injury. There were no injuries to any fire personnel.
The Brookings Police Dept., Public Works Dept. and Cal-Ore Life Flight also assisted at the scene.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal and Curry County Fire Investigation team are investigating the fire.
