Two minor earthquakes struck off the southern Oregon coast within 20 hours of each other with the first one shaking early Sunday morning, May 16th, at 7:57am.
On Sunday morning, just before 8:00am a 4.1 magnitude quake struck 98 miles off the coast of Port Orford. The very shallow, 6 mile deep tremor did not trigger a tsunami or tsunami warning.
Another smaller quake struck just over 7 miles off the northern California coast and 50 miles south of Eureka. The 9.5 mile deep, 3.1 tremor hit just after midnight Monday morning and also did not trigger a tsunami or tsunami warning.
