Two Quakes Shake Off the Northwestern Coast Friday

Two earthquakes struck off the northwestern coast Friday, August 2nd, one striking on the Blanco Fracture zone, and the other striking farther to north on the San Juan De Fuca Ridge.

The first struck approximately 300 miles off the Canadian coast very early Friday morning just after 1:00am Friday morning measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale.

The second of the two temblors, measuring 4.4 in magnitude, struck just before 5:30pm early Friday evening, approximately 180 miles off the coast of Coos Bay, Oregon.

Neither of the two tremors developed a Tsunami, or Tsunami warnings.
