Early Thursday evening, February 6th, the Coos Bay Police Department responded to reports of a fight in the Walmart parking lot on Newmark Ave in Coos Bay just after 6:00pm.
Three men fighting and a gathered crowd outside one of the Walmart entrance doors was observed by first arriving officers. The crowd and two of the men reported that the third man, identified as 32 year old Andrew Orr, of North Bend had assaulted a 19 year old woman in the parking lot, and the two other men had intervened.
It was discovered during initial investigation by Coos Bay Police officers that the woman, a stranger to Mr. Orr, had been intentionally attacked, in the parking lot and forced to the ground, and before Coos Bay Police officer officers arrived, two male witnesses intervened and pulled Mr. Orr off the victim.
Mr. Orr was arrested and lodged at the Coos County Jail on multiple charges including Attempted rape in the first degree, Sex abuse in the third degree, Criminal Trespass in the second degree, Disorderly conduct in the second degree, Harassment and a Coos Bay Police Department warrant charging probation violation on original charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
