Two Arrested After Early Morning Routine Traffic Stop Reveals Half an Ounce of Meth and 295 Xanax Pills

Very early Tuesday morning, July 23, a Del Norte County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop just before 1:15am.  

During the traffic stop, the Deputy deployed K9 Zuko for a free air sniff around the vehicle and the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine and 295 Xanax pills were confiscated during the stop.  

Subsequently, two individuals were arrested, both the driver and a passenger were arrested. The driver, identified as Leonard Vanwormer, was arrested for possession of narcotics and various other drug related charges, and the passenger, identified as Jeremiah Rodriguez, was arrested for several outstanding warrants.
