Just after 11:00 am, emergency crews were dispatched to reports of a pickup towing an RV had lost control on Interstate 5 northbound.
The truck crashed into the guardrail and rolled over it, landing upside down in the median. The trailer tipped over but remained in the NB lanes. Both the driver and passenger and a dog, all self-extricated and escaped injury.
A stretch of guardrail was significantly damaged but did its job preventing the vehicle from rolling into the southbound lanes. Traffic was slowed to a crawl as the Oregon Department of Transportation and Caveman Towing Inc. cleared the wreckage.
Oregon State Police are currently investigating the cause. Rural Metro received assistance from Rogue RiverFire, that remained on scene with an engine crew while the vehicle was removed.
