Traffic Stop Unveils Four Ounces of Meth

On Thursday, April 11, just after 1:00 am, a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy assigned to White City stopped a white Pontiac Grand Am for a traffic violation on Crater Lake Highway. Deputies requested assistance from a K9 team from the Central Point Police Department. The K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.

A passenger, Tassaney Louise Mahoney, 38, was found to be in possession of nearly four ounces of methamphetamine, as well as equipment commonly used for drug packaging and sales. She was lodged in jail on charges of possession, manufacture, and distribution of methamphetamine.

The investigation found the driver, James Gary Tacia, 47, was driving with a suspended license and was in possession of a user amount of methamphetamine. He was lodged in jail.

Passenger Daniel Lee Hutchinson, Jr., 37, was arrested for a parole violation from a prior conviction for unlawful use of a weapon. He was also found to be in possession of a user amount of heroin. Hutchinson was lodged in jail.

Passenger Bridgette Rhean Cowart, 19, was found to be in possession of a user amount of methamphetamine. She was cited and released at the scene.

Deputies were further assisted at the scene by officers from the Medford Police Department.
