Traffic Stop Finds Mushrooms, Meth and Heroin

On Wednesday May 1st, just before noon, a Coos Bay Sheriff Deputy conducted a traffic stop as part of a joint operation with the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team on a vehicle on Highway 101. The Deputy pulled the vehicle over for failing to maintain its lane of travel after observing the vehicle crossing the fog line while driving north on highway 101.

While the Deputy was gathering information from the driver, who identified himself as 31-year-old Kyle J. Connelly, a drug detection dog was deployed. The drug dog displayed a positive alert for drugs on the vehicle, indicating there were illegal drugs present.

After an investigation and search of the car, a significant amount of illegal mushrooms was found as well as Methamphetamine and Heroin, all of which were seized to be sent to the Oregon State Crime Lab for testing. About 516.3 grams of mushrooms were seized, which comprises as much as 344 user amounts.

Subsequently, Kyle J. Connelly was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for possession of a controlled substance schedule one for mushrooms, possession of a controlled substance Methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance Heroin.
