According to a Thursday, August 13th press release, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop on Main St. in Trinidad.
The vehicle was stopped for expired registration and displaying false registration tabs. The driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old Jody Martin of Redding, was detained for driving on a suspended license and displaying false registration tabs on a vehicle. Martin was not in possession of any form of identification.
Agents searched the vehicle in an attempt to locate identification for Martin. Under the driver’s seat agents located a plastic bag that contained approx. 250 Xanax pills. In the trunk of the vehicle agents located a black duffle bag that contained approx. 10,000 Xanax pills and a half ounce of methamphetamine.
Martin was interviewed at the scene. Deputies towed Martin’s vehicle for expired registration over six months.
Agents will forward a case to the Humboldt County District Attorney requesting charges for Possession and transportation of controlled substances for sales, transportation of methamphetamine, display false registration on a vehicle, and driving on a suspended license, to be filed.
