The primary suspect from Thursday’s rural Jacksonville homicide, identified by authorities earlier in the week as 64 year old Michael Wayne Ray, of Jacksonville, is in custody.
Earlier in the week, the suspects vehicle was located near the crime scene next to the Applegate dam Thursday afternoon.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and K9 teams responded and searched the vehicle and area, but the suspect was not located and as of early Thursday evening, the suspect remained on the run and was considered armed and dangerous.
Investigators learned Saturday, April 22nd, the suspect, identified by authorities as 64 year old Michael Wayne Ray, of Jacksonville, was possibly hiding in the house where the original crime occurred at approximately 11:00am.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and K9 Teams responded to the address on Upper Applegate Road, and after a brief standoff, the suspect was taken into custody without incident at 4:15pm.
The investigation is ongoing and more information in the coming days.
