Just before 9:00am Sunday, January 26th, Josephine County 911 received a call reporting a Structure Fire. Crews from Grants Pass Fire and Rural Metro Fire were quickly dispatched.
Fire Crews arrived on scene to find a residential dwelling with heavy fire involvement in the basement and first floor. An aggressive fire attack was started, and the fire was knocked down. Crews then began a lengthy overhaul process to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
This house is commonly called the round house due to it being completely round on the exterior. This also meant that there were hidden and void spaces that had to be opened to fully extinguish the fire, increasing our overhaul time.
There were several occupants in the residence that were all able to exit to safety. A working smoke detector woke up a couple of the occupants who then alerted others. One person did receive minor injuries attempting to put out the fire.
At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation.
