Structure Fire Causes Heavy Damage to Downtown Brookings Residence

The Brookings Fire & Rescue Department and the Harbor Fire Department as well as multiple surrounding agencies were dispatched to a structure fire just after 6:00pm, Monday evening, June 6th, at a residence on Spruce Dr. in downtown Brookings.

Multiple 911 calls were received reporting heavy smoke and flames showing from the back of the building and first arriving units reported that the structure was fully involved.

A close by neighboring residence was being threatened and a hose line with a crew was placed between the involved structure and the threatened structure as crews simultaneously attacked the blaze in the main structure.

The fire was deemed under control at 6:30pm with the structure sustaining heavy fire damage to the residence and a severe amount of smoke damage to the contents.

No occupants were at the residence at the time of the fire which authorities deemed to electrical in origin, and there were no injuries to any of the public or fire fighters.
