A long-period swell originating from a storm just south of the western Aleutian Islands will arrive along the Oregon coast early Monday morning through late Monday evening.
While wave heights will not be abnormally high, the swell will present an increased threat of sneaker waves along area beaches and shorelines. Risks will be increased by pleasant weather and warm temperatures, which may draw people to the beaches.
Sneaker waves can sweep far up the beach without warning, and drag people out into the cold Pacific waters, where hypothermia and shock can kill quickly. Rocks, jetties, and logs are not safe! Never turn your back to the ocean!
