The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office received a report of skeletal remains located inside an abandoned camp trailer on Thursday, Jan 9th according to a Del Norte Sheriff Office press release.
The Del Norte Sheriff Office responded, confirmed the remains to be human, appeared to be those of a male and have likely been in the trailer for more than a year. The trailer was located on the commercial property of Elk Valley Storage.
Based on personal articles of property found along with the remains the Del Norte Sheriff Office believes they know the identity of the decedent but are awaiting DNA confirmation.
The cause of death is undetermined at this time, but all possible resources will be utilized during the course of this investigation.
