On February 8, 2018 at 3:21 am, Medford Police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident on Foothill Road at Lone Pine Road. When officers arrived on scene they found 24 years old, Ana Castorena standing near her vehicle. She was uninjured.
It was determined Castorena was traveling southbound on Foothill Road, when she lost control of her vehicle as she attempted to negotiate the curves just north of Lone Pine Road. After losing control, Castorena’s vehicle struck a power pole, which was sheared off and came to rest on top of her 1997 Jaguar XJ6. Castorena was fortunate to have not been seriously injured in the crash.
The investigation revealed Castorena was impaired and subsequently lodged at the Jackson County Jail. She has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief.
The crash caused power outages to numerous east Medford homes and traffic delays for approximately 6 hours. Pacific Power was on scene and worked quickly to replace the downed power pole.
