A series of seven earthquakes struck off the northern California coast Tuesday, February 11th, beginning as early as 3:20am with a small 2.6 magnitude quake less than 50 miles off shore southwest of Eureka.
This small quake was then followed by three additional small quakes in the 2.5 range in the same approximate vicinity with the final of the this series of three tremors striking just before 11:15am.
Just after 8:30pm, a larger 4.5 magnitude quake struck approximately 60 miles southwest of Eureka, 6.5 miles deep, followed by a 2.7 tremor just after 11:00pm.
At 1:22am, Wednesday morning, February 12th, another 3.0 magnitude quake struck within 3 miles of the original 4.5 quake at a depth of just over 3 miles.
No tsunami’s or tsunami warnings were generated as a result of these quakes.
