A cluster of earthquakes hit off the coast of Oregon beginning early. Saturday morning. The largest of those earthquakes registered a magnitude of 5.4, with another at a magnitude of 5.0. The others were below a magnitude of 5.0.
There were eight quakes in total that struck in the same general area, about 220 miles off the coast of Newport. They ranged in magnitude from 3.2 to a pair of quakes that reached up to a 5.4 magnitude according to the United States Geological Services. The first quake hit at 5:43 a.m. and the most latest was at 7:26am Saturday morning.
At approximately 9:00pm Saturday night another 5.4 quake struck off of the coast about 40 miles south of Eureka.
No tsunami were generated from the string temblors along the west coast, and no tsunami warnings were issued according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
