The U.S. Geological Society recorded a series of relatively small earthquakes just under 4.0 in magnitude that rattled the coast in the last 24 hours from just south of Eureka California to as far north as Yachats Oregon, with the first tremor striking at 1:00pm Friday afternoon.
The first of the four tremors was also the furthest north in the series, striking just over 90 miles off the coast of Yachats at 1:00pm Friday afternoon, August 12th, at a depth of just over 6 miles measuring 3.9 in magnitude.
The next quake struck just after mid-night Saturday morning August 13th, 114 miles off the coast of Bandon, Oregon. The 3.1 magnitude quake and was just over 9 miles deep.
Those two off-shore quakes were followed by two other early morning quakes with the first striking just under 20 miles north and east of Mckinleyville California at 3.2 in magnitude, and 17 miles deep at 12:25am.
The final of the four quakes struck just after 5:30am approximately 15 miles south and east of Eureka, measuring 3.7 in magnitude at just over 12 miles deep.
No Tsunami’s were generated and no Tsunami warnings were issued for any of these quakes.
