According to information from Del Norte County Search and Rescue, teams remain actively involved searching areas near Gasquet regarding a missing 74 year old Washington woman who went missing after becoming separated from her adult daughter and husband while mushroom hunting on Friday evening, February 3rd.
The 44 year old daughter was found Saturday evening and admitted to Sutter General Hospital for mild hypothermia and the husband reported to authorities that he had become separated from the two Saturday evening.
Crews from Gasquet Fire, California Highway Patrol, Forest Service Hot Shots, California Fish and Game, and the Coast Guard as well as many others continued to search the region according to information provided as of late Wednesday, February 8th.
The Coast Guard extracted Search and Rescue members after spending Tuesday night, February 7th, exposed on steep terrain with one member needing medical assistance at Sutter Coast Hospital after exhibiting mild symptoms of hypothermia.
As of Thursday, February 9th, Search and Rescue introduced drone technology to continue assisting with multiple other forms of electronic surveillance, and multiple team members assisted in searching the French Hill area including the Gasquet-Hot Shots by helping clear access to pivotal search locations by removing forest undergrowth.
Teams were able to find a piece of the missing person’s jacket immediately above a ridgeline, however, the area was swept thoroughly by teams with no other visual indicators observed.
