Curry County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call from Gold Beach resident Jennifer Piper Saturday, October 23rd, at approximately 9:00pm, reporting that her husband Billy and her brother-in-law Jason Allen were missing.
Information relayed was that Billy Piper and Jason Allen had left their hunting camp in an ATV side by side at about 5:00pm and had not returned and that there had been about twenty other hunters out looking for the two missing men but were unable to find them.
Dispatch then requested response from the Curry County Search and Rescue Team. Eleven Search and Rescue members responded to the area and began searching all the roads leading to the area.
Just before midnight, Search and Rescue members located both Piper and Adams near Collier Butte. The ATV side-by-side Piper and Allen were in, had broken an axel which stranded them. Piper and Adams were given a ride back to their camp where they were reunited with their family and friends.
