Fugitive Wanted for Homicide in San Diego, Arrested in Cave Junction

On Wednesday, June 1st, Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the United States Marshals Service learned that a fugitive from San Diego was possibly in the Cave Junction area.

The suspect, 59 year old Anthony Duane Siddle, was wanted on a San Diego warrant on charges Homicide after an 87 year old woman, and her 60 year old daughter had been stabbed at their residence earlier in the year on April 22nd. The 87 year old woman, identified as Peggy Brandenburgh, was pronounced dead at the scene while her 60 year old daughter was transported by medics to a local hospital and treated and is expected to survive her injuries.

The evidence from information provided by the San Diego Police Department shows that investigators believe the suspect was familiar with the residence, and that after entering the residence, immediately stabbed both victims. Although motivation is still being determined, it not believed to be a random attack.

A Deputy located the suspect’s vehicle and observed a male subject with the vehicle on Rockydale Road in Cave Junction Wednesday. Additional Deputies and members of the United States Marshals Office along with an Officer from the National Park Police initiated contact with the suspect, and took 59 year old Anthony Duane Siddle into custody without incident on a San Diego warrant charging Homicide.
