Routine Traffic Stop Results in Meth, Weapons and an Arrest

On Saturday, September 28th, deputies on patrol made contact with Stephen Barnes during a traffic stop regarding a motor vehicle violation.   Deputies discovered Barnes was on active CDC Parole during the investigation and a search of his person and vehicle were conducted pursuant to his Parole search terms.  

During the search, approximately 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm handgun were located.  

Barnes was taken into custody and booked at the Del Norte County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition and having a loaded handgun while in possession of drugs.
