Rough Seas, High Winds and Heavy Rain Ravage Coastal Areas

This past week of Pacific storms has left the area very wet and in need of a weather break. High surf has pounded the coast from California to Washington.

In this situation, the photographers stressed that they were in a safe place well away from danger using telephoto lenses.

Unsettled air masses have even produced a tornado that touched down in Port Orchard Washington Tuesday afternoon. National Weather Service in Seattle can confirm that a tornado touched down near Port Orchard just before 2 pm on December 18th. Multiple homes were damaged, however, no injuries were reported.

Locally, the Chetco and Pistol rivers have recently swollen to alarming levels and weather services are forecasting another round of wet weather in coming days.

Local roadways have seen rock slides and trees topple blocking roads and knocking out power, phone and internet to thousands from the coast and into the valley.

Another round of wet weather is being forecast for upcoming days. Please be careful when traveling in the area and always be aware of dangerous situations in your surroundings when outside.
