Early Tuesday morning, January 28th, a rockslide closed Highway 62 southwest of Crater Lake National Park after a group of very large boulders crashed onto the highway at approximately 4:00am.
Heavy fog and rain made conditions worse as a vehicle crashed into the large boulders blocking all lanes. The driver of the vehicle sustained what were reported as non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a Medford hospital.
Hwy. 62 was opened to a single lane with pilot cars and traffic control Tuesday afternoon. The Oregon Department of Transportation states that it expects to continue escorting traffic as it removes the boulders from the roadway and expects delays to last up to a week.
