Removing Squatters Reveals Guns, Ammo and Drugs

On Thursday, July 11, at about 7:45am, a patrol officer with the Eureka Police Department assisted by the Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant at a residence. The search warrant was in response to numerous complaints of squatters in the vacant residence, drugs, and nuisance activity.

Officers and detectives detained ten people on the scene during the search. The search yielded methamphetamine and heroin indicative of sales, one firearm, ammunition, and a motorcycle that had been reported stolen out of Arcata in June of 2019.

Four of the ten detained people were arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
