Earlier in the week, the Illinois Valley Fire Department was fighting a grass fire off Waldo Road and handling a smoke investigation off Rockydale when just after 2:30 pm, IVFD was dispatched to a car fire at Store Gulch Campground.
The location is in a remote area on the Illinois River Road. Access for fire apparatus was very difficult as vehicles were parked on both sides of the road at numerous locations. By the time we arrived, the fire extended to a second vehicle and started a small grass fire.
The fire was extinguished by Illinois Valley Fire Department personnel. The scene was turned over to USFS Law Enforcement as this area in not in the Illinois Valley Fire District.
