At 6:31 am, Wednesday the 13th, The Grants Pass Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire. The caller was in the process of alerting the residents and reported the fire was located on the roof of the structure.
Fire units were on the scene in less than five minutes after receiving the initial call to 911. The first units to arrive found an active fire in the attic of the three-story home.
Grants Pass Fire was assisted on the scene by the Grants Pass Police, Rural Metro Fire Department, and American Medical Response. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. An investigation in the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing and will be released at a later date.
This is an important reminder to check your smoke alarms and develop and practice a home escape plan.
