Just after 3:00pm Thursday, December 9th, Coos-Curry Electric reported that they were receiving reports of power outages affecting Brookings and Gold Beach.
According to reports from Coos-Curry Electric the outage had been the result of a downed Bonneville Power Administration transmission line feeding into the Coos-Curry Electric system affecting approximately 3,700 electric meters between Gold Beach and Brookings.
The original time of restoration was originally projected to be approximately 8:30pm Thursday evening and that all unaffected members in Brookings will experience a brief service interruption to complete the repairs and restore power to all affected members.
Bonneville Power Administration crews were reportedly repairing a transmission line on a 100 ft tower in extreme weather conditions and according to the update, when the work was completed, Coos-Curry Electric would begin restoring power to members in stages and that power from North Brookings up to Gold Beach was expected to be restored by 10:00pm.
Power had indeed been restored to all affected members just after 10:00pm, only to have a report that Bonneville Power Administration had an unexpected outage while completing repairs to the transmission line just after mid-night, and that an outage was affecting members in the Gold Beach, Brookings, and Harbor area.
The Bonneville Power Administration related outage was restored at 12:49am, Friday morning.
