Oregon COVID-19 Numbers Continue to Fall

After four consecutive weeks of fewer COVID-19 cases with 127 fewer cases than the previous week, Oregon saw only 1,608 cases and 8 fewer deaths in the past seven days.

As a result of these lower numbers, on Tuesday, September 1st, Governor Kate Brown extended her declaration of a state of emergency regarding COVID-19 for an additional 60 days, until November 3, 2020.

Again, as Oregon witnesses now over 100 days of civil unrest in Portland, we continue to see the same 5 northern Oregon counties of Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, Umatilla, and Washington continue to comprise 62% of all of the state of Oregon’s cases adding 1,001 of the states 1,608 cases in these counties alone. As we have seen in the past, Governor Brown attests her declaration of a state of emergency for ALL Oregonians to “Small social get-togethers like barbecues and family celebrations having fueled wider community outbreaks in counties across Oregon. This weekend, you have a choice. Please, stay local this Labor Day, and practice safe COVID-19 habits. Wear a face covering, watch your physical distance, and wash your hands.” Governor Brown stated Tuesday.
