Curry and Coos counties remain the only two counties in the state in Governor Brown’s ‘Risk Level’ matrix “Extreme Risk”, and continue to bear the brunt of lock-downs through yet another major holiday period, again while individuals from outside the area travel to the southern Oregon coast, only to find it closed.
Oregon COVID-19 infection rates now average at just 358 new cases per day, with 2,519 new COVID-19 cases across the state in the past week. Continuing to hold one of the lowest infection rates in the nation, Oregon now has a total of 166,013 cases. Hospitalizations continued to stay low, raising the statewide total to 9,265 since the beginning of the pandemic. 32 individuals succumbed to COVID-19 in the past week, making the total deaths for the entire state of Oregon, 2,385 since the pandemic began.
Curry County’s latest numbers as reported Friday by the Oregon Health Authority, April 2nd, now reports testing 10,358 individuals with 9,887 negative tests, 471 total positive COVID-19 tests and after adding 49 new cases in the last week and has recorded 557 total cases and now 8 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 14,021 with 12,808 negative results, 71 active cases and 1,213 total confirmed cases reported by Public Health, with 2 current hospitalizations and now 5 deaths.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 43,077 individuals last week with 40,780 negative results, 2,297 total positive cases and 29 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Josephine County reports testing 62,222 individuals with 59,422 negative results, 3,200 total positive test results and 2.829 total cases of COVID-19 and now 59 deaths.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 3,492 total cases after testing 81,426 individuals with 77,934 negative results, 62 active cases, 3,394 recoveries, 135 hospitalizations, and 36 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, April 2nd.
Jackson County continues to see significant increases after testing 205,700 individuals with 191,766 negative test results, 13,934 positive results, and 9,321 total cases of COVID-19 with now 121 deaths as of Friday, April 2nd.
