ODOT District Manager Gives Hooskanandan Update

The ramps that have been built by Tidewater Contractors, Inc.

According to an update released Monday evening by Oregon Department of Transportation District Manager Darrin Neavoll, over the last 24 hours (from Sunday to Monday),the slide had moved about 10 feet so they are getting close to where they think they can maintain a single lane through the area.

Tidewater got the north end of the slide close to ready for traffic, and are moving south. At the south end, Tidewater has been moving the mud in hopes to start putting some rock in the area.

Work by Tidewater Contractors, Inc. has progressed to halfway through the slide area.

Wednesday will be a good test with rain coming in and we will see how the slide reacts. If things continue to progress and the slide does not move we think we could have a lane open Thursday or Friday but please don’t hold us to that yet.

Progress at the south end of the slide area by Tidewater Contractors Inc., where mud is being removed to be replaced by rock.

The detour on Carpenterville continues to hold up. Our motor carrier enforcement officers will be heading home for a couple days and we are going to see how it functions without them. They feel the compliance of the trucks has been good the last few days, and we hope we can get a lane open soon.
