The Northcoast Marine Mammal Center in Crescent City is sending our a friendly reminder that harbor seal pupping season is upon us here in Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
If you find a seal pup on the beach, please do NOT touch it! Please keep your distance and keep all pets leashed. Most likely it’s mom is foraging offshore and knows exactly where she left her pup and she will not return if people and/or animals are near.
If you do happen to come across one of these cuties, please call our stranding line at (707)951-4722.
The Northcoast Marine Mammal Center was founded in 1984 by our current Medical Director, Dr. Dennis Wood. We respond to reports of distressed marine mammals along the coastline of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties in Northern California.
The average cost of food and medical care for just one animal is $900. Multiply that by the 60-100 animals we anticipate this year and we will need $54,00 to $90,000!
“Meals for Seals” A donation of $10 will feed one of our animals for a day!
