A message on social media from the Newport Oregon Police Department indicated that they are hoping to reunite a cannon found in downtown Newport with it’s owner.
The message read:
“To whom it may concern,
Please check your surroundings for any items similar to that pictured which may be missing. If you own a cannon, but it is no longer where it should be, the cannon we found may be yours. It was located today near NE 3rd and NE Avery Streets.”
“If you can identify it, we can return it to you. Call Officer Steve Hallmark at 541-574-3348 if you would like to help us reunite the cannon with the rightful bombardier.”
