Mushroom Picking Season Begins

It’s mushroom hunting time again and there has been a lot of interest in mushroom harvesting opportunities on the Umpqua National Forest this spring.

If you are headed out to hunt for mushrooms- you’ll need to stop by one of our offices to get a personal use or commercial permit. These permits help us protect forest resources and track demand and amount of mushrooms removed. Personal use mushroom permits are free. Please remember to bring your U.S. federal or state issued identification to get a permit.

Also, know that you need to carry your permit and issued map with you while harvesting and transporting mushrooms on and through the National Forests.
