Multi-Agency Water Rescue Team Rescues 2

Just after 1:00pm Thursday, April 1st, a distress call regarding a boating accident on the Rogue River prompted the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office to mobilize water rescue crews.

The boating accident involved a dingy that had capsized just above the Chinook ParkĀ  boat ramp. Both occupants, both wearing life jackets, and both dogs, were able to scramble to safety. One was stranded on the tree hazard that claimed the boat, and the other on the opposite bank.

Water rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire, Grants Pass Fire Rescue, and an ambulance from American Medical Response responded to the call

A Rural Metro firefighter launched a raft up-stream and was able to swing in and pick up all the parties involved, and their dogs.
