Middle School Students Hospitalized After Taking “Over the Counter Medication”

According to the Del Norte County Unified School District, on Tuesday, January 8th, a student at Crescent Elk Middle school in Crescent City California, brought an over the counter medication to school and distributed it to a small number of students.

The Del Norte County Unified School District contacted the parents of all students who were reported to have taken the medication and the eight students who took the medication were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital by ambulance or parent to be evaluated. “Our first priority is the safety of our students, and we are working closely with emergency services to promptly address this situation.” the statement went on to say.

An investigation into how the “over the counter medication” arrived on school property and exactly what “over the counter medication” is is being conducted and will be ongoing into the future.
